The humour is pretty savage and I laughed out look at some very blackly funny scenes. Michael Pena is stellar in this movie, helped by the sharp script.
He almost outdone by his partner Alexander Skarsgard , who at first seems to be a simple alcoholic but whose horrific damaged past is uncovered by his acts of kindness to a homeless boy and a vulnerable stripper Tessa Thompson.
Fast, colourful and kinetic, the action sequences, though few, are very well done. The cinematography, story and the full-on acting from the leads make this compelling viewing.

They get away with it most of the time but keep being called into the boss' office. I laughed out loud at the fast paced humour. Some of it is dark, but if you like this sort of humour you will love it.

From his sparse house to his recklessness he is fabulous and hilarious. Many times Alexander's voice sounds just like his Dad, which brought a slick seriousness to some scenes.
Violence is present throughout. Alexander's character has a signature one punch KO which he uses plenty of times. There were so many great scenes.
The casting was great with some perfect characters. Caleb Landry Jones as the twitchy, retro dressed employee. Theo James' debauchery as the big baddy adds to the action and.
However when Theo's fate is sealed as the final dark twist of the plot is revealed, you root for Terry and Bob to do it justice, putting aside stupidity and corruption.
Michael Pena is being a great Dad, but swears at and with his kids in a shocking 'bad parent' manner. It reminded me of the scenes in 'Talladega nights' with the family at the table hurling abuse at one another.

I agree with the review "Unstructured Mess," by Greg from Ontario. Except I come to a much different conclusion: This is simply cinema showing us the utter meaninglessness of it all -- not necessarily a point I agree or disagree with.
So we must endure it all, strange, bizarre, baffling, stupid, ridiculous, and so on, all in the midst of an utter wasteland. As such, we can only live in the present moment, the best we can.
The music makes the meaninglessness bearable! So as Greg from Ontario writes, it's pure, unstructured mess. In my opinion, that gives you two choices: Take it or leave it!

He has a running challenge of intelligent quotes with his wife which juxtaposes the awful language they permit to be used in their house.
One of the son's says "why do you always pick on me? Michael answers "because you are the youngest and most vulnerable" which says it all.
Michael and Alexander form an obviously trusting, yet lawless duo, akin to a scandalous Starsky and Hutch in the remake with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.
The stupidity of it is brilliant. There is an excellent use of light and colour to set the moods, with the cold and grey of Iceland contrasting against their usual bright and warm toned Albuquerque.
Reggie's purple suit in Iceland. Birdwell's colour co-ordinating outfits. The red of Theo's shirt in the final stand-off. A real all-rounder film which I am going to buy so I can re-live the gags over and over.
They need to do a sequel or a prequel and keep this duo together. Loved it!! The title of the review says it all.
A terrible film - I don't know why anyone gave it a good review as it is a mess. There wasn't a single redeeming feature as far as I could see - it was just rubbish.
I can only say, learn from my mistake and avoid. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Humorous, very stylish and leads you from strongly disliking this utterly corrupt pair of shameless cops, to completely understanding and even rooting for them.
The time-lapse scene of one of them getting drunk in a bar was a very effective piece of filming to my uneducated eye. Clever and funny, this is definitely worth a watch.
